131 Birth Anniversary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra observed in Tezpur

The 131st Birth Anniversary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra and 33rd Sri Bigrah Pratistha Utsav of Tezpur Satsang Vihar observed here at Joimati Pathar Playground with a day long program of Bedmangolik, Ushakirtan, offering bhug, prayer, reading holy books, bhajon-kirtan and around five thousand devotees from all nearby areas irrespective of caste and creed assembled to celebrate the anniversary.

The auspicious occasion was graced by the Kulen Sarmah, ADC, Sonitpur and Iswar Prasad Borthakur, Member, Foreigner Tribunal, Sonitpur as the chief speaker and Dr. Pradip Kumar Lahkar, special member, Medical Advisory Board of Plantation Workers, Govt. of Assam as a special invitee at the Dharma Sabha.

The celebration commenced at 5am with usha kirtan from 5:30am prayers were recited, Nam Jap and message of SriSri Thakur was recited. In the afternoon a Bhandara was conducted in which more than five thousand devotes took part of the holy food offering.

On the occasion, Iswar Prasad Borthakur said that Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra is a living ideal and Satsang is a man making industry and he approached the problems in a balanced, dynamic, rationalistic and scientific way. His interest varied from health to education, science to philosophy and from literature to politics. He further has dwelt at length on the life and ideology of Sri Sri Thakur while discussing philanthropic activities of the Satsang founded by Sri Sri Thakur.

ADC Sarmah welcomed the religious congregation and urged them to imbibe the benefits of Satsang in their life to lead a stress free and fulfilling life. Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra born on 1888 from Pabna District of undivided Bengal (now in Bangladesh), later shifted to Deoghar (Jharkhand), was a multi-dimensional magnanimous personality – a saint, philosopher, social reformer, physician, scientist, educationist, guide, and a philanthropist who inspired many eminent persona and freedom fighters of that time till his death on 1969.

Earlier Singer Suparna Paul and Dipshikha Paul, devotional and folk songs that captivated the devotees.

The program was also attended by Prafula Borah, Deputy Registrar of Tezpur University, Former Minister Dipen Tanti, Jiban Kurmai among others.

The event concluded with devotees committing to inculcate the philosophy of Sri Sri Thakur in their lives and spread his messages of spiritualism, peace and universal brotherhood.
