1st time in Assam Involvement of Ex-Servicemen in Govt. Schools for better Education System

A special meeting on “Affiliation of Ex-Servicemen in Govt. School to improve student’s mental, physical and school value system” was held at District Library, Tezpur yesterday. The meeting was organized by Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Govt. of Assam, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur & Demaji in collaboration with Sonitpur District Administration and Inspector of Schools.

The meeting started with the small briefing given by the Welfare Officer, Sonitpur Capt. Lohit Ch. Bhuyan in the presence of Brig Joshi Narain Dutt, SM (Retd), Director, DSW, Assam, Kishan Kr Sharma, ADC, Sonitpur, Inspector of School, Sonitpur with 200 Principals & Head Masters of various schools and 100 Ex-Servicemen.

Attending the meeting Brig Joshi said “Sonitpur is going to be the 1st district of Assam for implementing this project where Ex-Servicemen will be appointed at Govt. School to train physical, mental and moral values. After a minimum 18 years of defence service, Ex-Servicemen have that kind of quality training and experience which help our students to be physically fit and mentally strong.”

Amit Raj Konwar, Founder of Edupur Society (NGO) said “When we talk about Indian Defence (Army, Airforce, Navy) certain things came to our mind i.e. patriotism, respect, discipline, physically fit, mentally strong and most important attitude. Our attitude is a fundamental element for building a better human being. In today’s world, it is very important to be a good human being then a corrupt knowledgeable person. So, interaction of ESM with students will defiantly help our education system to produce a better result in future.”

After the meeting one to one decision held between principals & teachers with Govt. representatives.
