Familiarization exercise FAMEx Conducted in Sonitpur District

District Disaster Management Authority, Sonitpur in collaboration with 1st NDRF  team stationed at 12th APBn Campus, Jamuguri conducted FAMEx from July 16 to 20 at each 5 revenue circles in Sonitpur district. FAMEx is basically a community awareness programme which educates people about disaster preparedness by training them in response skills like Search & Rescue, First Aid, Fire Safety etc. This training is designed to help local people of the community to act as first responders when professional responders i.e. NDRF, SDRF, Fire Service etc. are not immediately available. These additional trained people of the community could be the difference between life or death.

Jagadish Kumar Nath, Inspector who is the NDRF team commander along with his team gave a demonstration about different response skills to the participants. DDMA, Circle Officials along-with SSB, Assam Rifles cadet and people from the community were present in the FAMEx.

In Dhekiajuli RC the exercise was held on July 16 at LOKD M.E. School where in total 146 Nos. people participated. In Thelamara RC the exercise was held on July 17 at Circle Office wherein total 86 nos. of people participated. In Naduar RC the exercise was held on July 18 at Ghiladharimukh Centre wherein total 148 nos. of people participated. In Chariduar RC the exercise was held on July 19 at Kabilabad High School, Dikraijan Gaon wherein total 105 nos. of people participated. In Tezpur RC the exercise was held on July 20 at Jharoni Chapori wherein total 164 nos. of people participated.
