A Refresher Training for all the stakeholders of the Juvenile Justice dispensation system was held here at the Conference hall of the ADR Centre today (11 July 2018). The programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur. The programme was attended by the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, Sonitpur A K Borah, other judicial officers of the district judiciary, members of Juvenile Justice Board, Probation Officers, Child Protection Officers, social workers, special Juvenile Police Unit and others.

Attending the Programme Debashish Saikia, Chief Judicial Magistrate has emphasized the need for proper implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 in the district, so that the children found to be in conflict with law can be reformed by adopting a child-friendly approach whereby the best interest of the child cannot be compromised. He further added that this would help in reducing the incidence of crimes committed by children.

Earlier, Mridu Chanda Bordoloi the secretary, DLSA, Sonitpur while explaining the objective of the Refresher Programme of training also said that the training will equip all the stakeholders with better knowledge and procedures in dealing effectively with juvenile cases in the district. Among others, who also participated and spoke on the occasion were Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, A Rahman, SDJM cum Principal Magistrate, JJB,  Sumit Bhuyan and Member of CWC Abha Borah.
