As per a report, the Metro Bazaar authorities didn’t seek any permission from the concerned authority of the Municipality Corporation before the opening of the mall in the area.
It may also be mentioned that there is no proper parking facilities available for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, thus leading to a massive traffic conjetion in the area.
Speaking to The Sentinel, Krishan Kr. Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, said, “As there is no proper parking space in the mall, District Magistrate had passed a circular mentioning about the criteria which the Metro Bazaar authorities will have to fulfill. Moreover, they have installed DJ sets in the premises of the mall which can also disturb the local people and passersby. Such thinks need a thorough and proper investigation and Tezpur Municipality is looking into the matter accordingly.”
ADC Sharma also mentioned that if all the norms and guidelines passed by the Municipality Corporations are fulfilled by the Metro Mall authorities, then the District Magistrate might re-consider the matter.
It may be mentioned that the Metro Bazaar was inaugurated at the Tezpur town on October 11, 2018.
