Nikamul Satra

Nikamul Satra, located in Tezpur, was established in 1805 A.D. by the Vaishnavite saint Madhabananda Dev. It is a revered institution of the Ekasarana tradition of Vaishnavism and has significantly contributed to Assam’s socio-cultural and spiritual heritage. This sacred site has been a source of inspiration for prominent cultural figures. Dr. Bhupen Hazarika developed the foundation of Borgeet under the guidance of Dharma Ratna Gahan Chandra Goswami at Nikamul Satra. Additionally, Lakshminath Bezbaruah learned Borgeet and Kirtan Ghosa here, while Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla and Kamala Prasad Agarwalla composed many of their iconic lyrics and songs in this spiritual hub.
