10/02/2025: The highly anticipated District-Level competitions of Khel Maharan 2.0 kicked off on 08/02/2025 with immense enthusiasm at the playground in front of Tezpur Academy H.S. School. Hon’ble MLA of Tezpur LAC, Shri Prithiraj Rava, inaugurated the event, while District Commissioner Shri Ankur Bharali, in his welcome address, emphasized how Khel Maharan serves as a crucial platform for unearthing hidden sporting talents at the grassroots level.
The ceremonial torch was jointly lit by Nikhamoni Bora, Assam’s first certified female sailor and a multi-medal winner in windsurfing and kiteboarding, alongside Tania Choudhury, an international lawn bowler.
With approximately 1,200 players competing from 8th to 10th February 2025, the atmosphere is electric with excitement.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Tezpur Municipal Board Chairperson Ramen Tamuli, District Development Commissioner Shri Lakhinandan Saharia, Co-District Commissioner of Naduar Shri Raj Boruah, and District Sports Officer Shri Pranjal Dehingia. The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from sports enthusiasts, veteran athletes, members of sports associations, and local officials, making it a grand celebration of talent and sportsmanship.
