DC Ananda Kumar Das Inspects Litchi Gardens Ahead of Tezpur Litchi Festival 2026

In the buildup to the highly anticipated Tezpur Litchi Festival 2026, Sonitpur District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das led an official inspection of the prominent Poruwa and Paltan Pukhuri litchi gardens today.

The upcoming festival, scheduled for June 6th and 7th, 2026, aims to celebrate and elevate the region’s famous GI-tagged agricultural asset.

Strategic Plan for Agricultural Growth

During the field visit, district officials paired up with agricultural and environmental experts to map out a long-term roadmap for local farmers. The team’s discussions focused on four critical areas:

• Production & Scaling: Implementing advanced farming techniques to scale up litchi production across the district.
• Cluster-Based Development: Grouping local orchards into organized clusters to streamline resources, training, and distribution.
• Market Linkages: Creating direct channels between local farmers and major commercial buyers to ensure better profit margins.
• Sustainable Practices: Fostering eco-friendly farming models that ensure the sustainable growth of Sonitpur’s litchi sector.

The delegation emphasized using the upcoming festival as a major launchpad to showcase the unique identity and superior quality of the Tezpur Litchi to national and global markets.
