The Door Frame of Da-Parvatia

The Door Frame of Da-Parvatia is located in a village west of Tezpur. This site features ruins that represent some of the earliest examples of architectural and stone carving artistry in Assam. Archaeologists attribute the door frame to the Pataliputra School of Art, dating it to the Gupta period (around 600 A.D.). The remains suggest that the temples in the area were dedicated to both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The intricately carved door frame is adorned with figures of the goddesses Ganga and Yamuna on its jambs, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of the time.
