The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) is dedicated to raising awareness and safeguarding children identified as being at risk of significant harm. Its mission is to create a safer and more supportive environment for children across the district.
On January 4, 2025, Shri Pratibha Meshram, Assistant Commissioner and In-Charge DCPO, IAS, inaugurated a mobile awareness van. This initiative aims to spread awareness about critical child protection issues, including child labor, child marriage, child trafficking, and illegal adoption.
The mobile van, equipped with visual displays and a public address system, disseminated information through mic announcements while covering areas from Tezpur to Dhekiajuli and nearby regions. Posters were put up, and leaflets were distributed in key locations such as hospitals, schools, police stations, railway stations, tea estates, bus stands, and marketplaces, ensuring widespread awareness of child protection acts
