Dhekiajuli, January 07, 2025 – The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Sonitpur, in collaboration with Edupur Society, Tezpur, has launched a series of 10 street plays aimed at raising awareness and preparedness for natural disasters such as floods and lightning.
The inaugural street play was held at Dhekiajuli Circle Office in the presence of distinguished guests, including the Dyotiva Bora ACS, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli, Nayanjyoti Pathak, Circle Officer, Sukdev Adhikari, Principal, Dhekiajuli L.O.K.D. College, Capt. Lohit Ch . Bhuyan, President of Edupur Foundation and Amit Raj Konwar, Director of Edupur Group.
The primary goal of this initiative is to create widespread community awareness about disaster preparedness. The series will include 10 performances in the Dhekiajuli Revenue Circles like Kalistan Daily Market, Singri Tea Estate Office, Hatibirijan LP School, Singri Daily Market, Chitalmari Daily Market, Bachasimulu Major Centre, No1 Bacha, Dakhin Bachasimolu Block Centre, Salmari Chapori LP School. A mobile van equipped with loudspeakers will accompany the plays, and safety leaflets will be distributed to amplify the message and reach a broader audience.
The street play is performed by artists from Tezpur namely: Sonit Jyoti Saikia, Pahi Dutta, Upashana Kalita, Vicky Ahmed, Rubu Moni Kalita, and Kabya Ranjan Bordoloi.
