TEZPUR — To boost green cover and streamline environmental conservation, Sonitpur District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das, alongside Tezpur MLA Shri Prithiraj Rava, chaired a crucial high-level meeting today.

The discussion centered on the legislative assembly constituency (LAC)-wise distribution of plant saplings and the strategic rollout of plantation activities across the district. The meeting was held at Conference Hall-I of the District Commissioner’s Office in Sonitpur.

Action Plan for the Green Drive

The administration outlined a multi-departmental strategy to ensure the plantation drive’s long-term success. The core focus areas included:

  • Location Mapping: Identifying optimal and suitable zones across the district for targeted plantation drives.
  • Logistics & Supply: Ensuring the smooth, effective distribution of saplings across different constituencies.
  • Community Mobilization: Actively involving educational institutions, local stakeholders, and citizens to foster public participation.
  • Inter-Departmental Coordination: Synchronizing efforts across forestry, public works, and administrative departments to manage large-scale logistics.
