Tezpur District Museum is one of the 12 district museums in Assam, each offering a glimpse into the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. Established on March 16, 1986, under the Directorate of Museums, Guwahati, Assam, the museum is located in the heart of Tezpur town. The museum’s collections are currently housed in a historic British-era building known locally as the “dak-bunglow.” Before settling at its permanent location in 2002, the museum’s artifacts were moved between several places, including Darrang College and Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, in search of a suitable home.
