






Chariduar, January 18, 2025 – The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Sonitpur, in collaboration with Edupur Society, Tezpur, has continued a series of 50 street plays to raise awareness and improve preparedness for natural disasters like floods and lightning.
The inaugural performance, held at Nevil Higher Secondary School, Chariduar, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Dr Khirod Kumar Hazarika, Circle Officer, Chariduar Revenue Circle,Rajesh Dutta, Principal of Nevil Higher Secondary School, Chariduar,Abhilasha Mahanta, Field Officer, Chariduar Revenue Circle,Arun Bhuyan, Social Worker Chariduar,Rajnish Saikia, Social worker Chariduar,Amit Raj Konwar, Director of Edupur Group, also graced the occasion.
The initiative aims to foster community awareness about disaster preparedness and resilience. As part of the program, 10 performances will be staged across key locations in the Chariduar Revenue Circle, including Balipara Centre, Gorhmara Centre, Bindukuri Centre, Phulaguri Centre, Borjuli Centre, Rangapara Tiniali, Lokhra Centre, 18 Mile Centre, Khanamukh Centre.
To enhance the campaign’s impact, a mobile van equipped with loudspeakers will accompany the performances, and safety leaflets will be distributed to the public.
The street plays feature a talented group of artists from Tezpur, including Sunit Saikia as a coordinator, Pahi Dutta, Upashana Kalita, Vicky Ahmed, Rubu Moni Kalita, and Kabya Ranjan Bordoloi, who bring these crucial messages to life with engaging performances.
This effort underscores the importance of community participation in disaster management and aims to create a safer, more prepared society.
