Day 2 of Tezpur Litchi Festival 2026: Historic Dubai Export and Grand Cultural Finale

The second and concluding day of the two-day Tezpur Litchi Festival 2026 (6–7 June) witnessed a series of significant events celebrating the global journey, cultural heritage, and growing recognition of the GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi.

First Export Consignment to Dubai Flagged Off

A major milestone of the day was the official flag-off of the very first export consignment of GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi to Dubai.

The event was attended by:

Shri Ananda Kumar Das, ACS (District Commissioner, Sonitpur)
Shri Prithiraj Rava (Hon’ble MLA, Tezpur LAC)
Dignitaries from APEDA, officials from the Agriculture Department, and key industry stakeholders.

This historic export was preceded by a virtual interaction involving Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS (APEDA Chairman), Smti Aruna Rajoria, IAS (Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Assam), APEDA officials, exporters, and other distinguished guests.

Senior Official Reviews Exhibition

During the day, Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS (Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam) visited the festival venue. Accompanied by District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das, he reviewed the various exhibitions, interacted with the participants, and highly appreciated the collective efforts being made to promote Tezpur and Assam’s iconic GI-tagged produce.

Public Entertainment and Live Music
Festival visitors and local citizens gathered at the Ananda Chandra Agarwala Park for a special SSB Band Show, which drew enthusiastic participation from the crowd and was attended by the District Commissioner.

Grand Closing Ceremony

Later in the evening, District Commissioner Shri Ananda Kumar Das graced the official closing ceremony of the festival. The grand finale featured a vibrant cultural lineup, including:
