Mass Protest Rally against Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in Tezpur

Several organisations, including AASU, AJYCP, AGP and ATTSA – today took out a massive rally under the name ‘Bishal Pratibadi Samadal’ from the Joimati Pathar Premises across several areas here, opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. AASU leader Dudul Barkotaku, Utpal Bhuyan, General Secretary, North Assam Divyang Association, Perona Mahila Sangathan, Former ULFA members were among the prominent leaders who took part in the rally.
 
The rally, participated by thousands of activists of various organisations and people from all fields, saw people holding posters and banners opposing the Bill. They also shouted slogans against the Centre and the State government for bringing the Bill, which, they alleged, posed “grave threat” to the Assamese society.
