69th World Health Day celebrated

World Health Day, an official global health campaign marked by World Health Organization, is celebrated worldwide every year on April 7 since 1950 to raise awareness on the need to improve universal health. Health is a human right for everyone, at every age. Health is the real wealth without which we cannot accomplish goals in life. Therefore World Health Day is celebrated to highlight its importance. This year’s theme is Health for all-everyone, everywhere, i.e., ensuring all people have access to quality health care whenever and wherever they need it without the prospect of financial hardship.

LGBRIMH celebrated the World Health Day 2019 on 7th April by organizing a day-long program on the theme. Dr. Dhruba Bhattacharjee, Professor and Dean, Academic Affairs, Tezpur University, and Dr. Krishna Kemprai, Joint Director of Health, Tezpur, have been invited as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Dr. Dhruba Bhattacharjee suggested collaboration of Tezpur University with LGBRIMH for the benefit of Society. Dr. S. K. Deuri, Director, LGBRIMH, presided the program. Dr. S.K.Deuri spoke on the need of collaboration and reach out to the public at large. After felicitation of guests, the dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Hemanta Dutta, Assistant Professor, Psychiatry, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Jayanta Kr. Das, Assistant Professor, Pathology, unfolded the theme for this year – “Health for all-everyone, everywhere.”

Dr. Jyoti Hazarika, Associate Professor, Microbiology, gave the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with the National Anthem. In recognition of the role the trees play in the health of the environment and community, a tree planting event was also organized. The program was attended by several prominent persons of Tezpur from varied fields, students, staff and faculty of LGBRIMH, Tezpur.
